Difficult horse rescue attempt is underway in Sylmar

by Steven Rosenberg

After two unsuccessful tries at rescuing a horse trapped down a steep embankment Friday morning in Sunland, firefighters are turning to a helicopter to help bring the animal to safety.

Los Angeles firefighters responded about 6:41 a.m. to the 11300 block of Oro Vista Avenue, where they found a horse stuck about 10 feet down a hillside pitched at a 45-degree angle, said LA Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
